Electricity Revenue Protection
Most of the electricity utilities in India today, are facing
difficult financial situation. The major contributor to
the situation is high T &D losses and tampers in metering
systems are the main elements to such losses. All utilities
are installing large numbers of new electronic meters which
are tamper evident and capable of recording tamper information.
However, there is a need to follow good installation practices
and train utility staff to analyze the information provided
by these state-of-the-art static meters. If this information
is properly utilized, utilities can significantly reduce
revenue losses.
Objective
The objective of workshop is to give an insight into revenue
protection issues related to HT and LT metering systems
and to provide knowledge of detecting frauds by tampering
meter connections or various other techniques; inside or
external to meters. The workshop also highlights on use
of meter data for estimation of billing in tampered conditions
together with legal aspects of electricity thefts. It also
emphasizes on technology and analytical tools available
for detecting tampers.
Who should attend?
This workshop is specifically designed for senior utility
engineers involved in revenue protection, metering and billing
(particularly from vigilance and O&M) etc. so as to
make them aware of basics of various issues involved in
revenue protection and tamper prevention. This workshop
is also useful for the policy makers of utilities as well
as for the persons from legal wings of utilities.
